The "Lou Creuse" Knife
Created by the Master Cutler... Msr. Alain Grangette,
this knife, from the Creuse Region of Central France, is in a class
of its own, thanks to the distinctive, contemporary styling and use
of the unique sure-safe locking system from Erenas(c). Msr. Grangette
has successfully managed to combine the best of the ancient arts of
the master cutler, such as the final definition of the blade, whilst
making no secret of his usage of top quality 21st. Century materials
and manufacturing methods to ensure the best of both worlds in the
finished knife.
The two principal components of the knife, the blade and the handle,
make use of what he considers to be the finest available materials
on the market today.l.
The design
The design of hardwood handle itself has
been subjected to extensive ergonomic studies to ensure that fatigue
does not become a factor whilst using the knife. Finally the cutting
edge is meticulously profiled on one side of the blade to ensure
maximum sharpness retention and yet also ease of resharpening.
Absolute attention to even the most minute detail has ensured
that the Lou Creuse Knife is in the opinion of Msr. Grangette
the finest culinary knife available today. A true testament to
his high aspirations.
The Erenas© system
The Erenas(c) blade locking system is
simplicity in itself to use and to our knowledge we are the first
cutlers to adopt the system in kitchen cutlery. To open the blade
a simple, firm pressure is exerted upon the point of the blade
to release the locking dovetail mechanism and to close the blade
it is simply neccessary to press lightly upon the tip of the blade
to reverse the process. The knife comes complete with an easy
to use belt clip for the secure and safe stowage of the blade
during the working day. The
blade
The blade comprises Sandvik stainless steel
12 C27, a material recognised for exceptional hardness and high
resistance to rust whilst the handle is manufactured using high
quality Sandvik stainless steel 220 C13. The blade is subjected
to a vacuum purging operation during final preparation to ensure
both the retention of maximum blade hardness and resistance to rusting
throughout the life of the knife. To guarantee finite manufacturing
tolerances, both the blade and handle are laser cut at Thiers in
France, before being subjected to a rigorous inspection process,
prior to hand finishing and final assembly by Msr. Alain Grangette
in The Creuse.
Lou Creuse is a registered trademark allocated to Messrs. Alain Dubreuil and Alain Grangette.
